Cardio or weights: the best way to lose weight

Starting a fitness journey can be daunting, and many newbies gravitate towards cardio for quick weight loss. However, this approach can backfire spectacularly. Relying solely on cardio for fat loss can lead to a dangerous cycle of frustration and disappointment. Initially, cardio burns calories and can reduce weight, but it doesn't discriminate between fat and muscle. As a result, beginners may shed muscle mass along with fat, which is detrimental to long-term health and aesthetics.

When the inevitable happens and they tire of monotonous cardio routines, they often quit. This cessation leads to rapid weight regain, but this time, it's mostly fat. With less muscle mass than when they began, they end up being a softer, flabbier version of their former selves. The loss of muscle means a slower metabolism, making it even harder to keep weight off in the future. This vicious cycle leaves many feeling defeated, demotivated, and further from their fitness goals than when they started. Emphasizing strength training and a balanced approach to exercise is crucial for sustainable, healthy weight loss and long-term success.
